Ar 15 builders which uppers are you using?

In the process of building a handfull of ak's I am finally going to the dark side for a build or two. I am trying to build the best bang for your buck ar 15. I dont want an already assembled one however, I will only build two of these so I want to buy the uppers complete because I dont feel like spending the money on any ar tools. I like to build my own stuff so that is why I am at least assembling the lower from a stripped essential arms receiver for $77. What is the best bang for my buck upper. It must be in .223
Thanks guys

Why not 5.56 so you can shoot both? State law?

I think he means 223 as opposed to 308 or some other odd length.

And honestly I think people put way too much thought into name-brands for AR parts.

DPMS
Model 1
Stag
Bushmaster

They're all going to be basically the same part, just do some surfing and find a good price from a company you've heard of before and you shouldn't have any issues. The AR I'm building is all DPMS because I can get the parts at awesome prices, but even if I didn't have the hook-up I would be hard pressed to give factual data as to who is better than who else for standard AR parts.

When you get the upper order it in 5.56 instead of .223 that way, like mentioned before, you can shoot both.
I have a Del-ton upper kit in my stag lower.

Del-ton is where I bought my Stag from. The only gripe I have is that they used the commercial receiver extension rather than the Mil-spec one. Which created a minor problem for me when I bought a Magpul CTR Mil-spec stock. Otherwise I am very happy with my Stag, which ran me about $800; would have been a tad cheaper (about $80), but I opted for the RRA 2 stage trigger group.

for complete uppers, as long as you dont mind a full 16 inch bbl, STAG m4 uppers are the best bang for the buck.

Aside from that, i normally purchase an LMT 14.5 m4 barrel and mate it with a STAG upper reciever from Denny's guns.
