My latest is a Stag lower (I'll never spend more to get anything other than a Stag lower ever again), DPMS LPK with some odd parts from other manufacturers and a DPMS upper. I'm a firm believer in buying what works, and it all works for me!

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

My thoughts:
Bushmaster is an overpriced name.
RRA knows how to keep selling AR-15's to satisfied (and loyal) customers.

How much more does a bushmaster AR cost compared to a Colt, LMT, S&W, or for that matter, RRA?
I have always thought Bushy is quite reasonably priced. When I bought my Bushy M4, it cost me in the neighborhood of $30 more than a RRA Entry Tactical, which was my other choice. The Bushy however comes with standard chrome lined barrel that is a $40 option on the RRA.

It must just be in this area then. Sadly, Bushy seems to be the only option around here that dealers have in stock to look at. And when you look at them, they tend to be a few hundred dollars more than anything else I've ever seen around (stores or internet).
I've done some research on the AR-15, and was really interested in buying one. I knocked Bushmaster off my list almost immediately due to cost, compared to other brands.
YMMV. It's just my opinion.

Since we're talking about Bushy being expensive and/or not expensive, I'll chime in and say that Bushy rifles can be had off the shelves around SE WI starting around $750 from what I've seen. Bushy, Armalite, and a couple Colts are what I've seen new. Bushy is the bargain rifle in these parts. I know there is DPMS floating around, but I have yet to put my hands on a complete DPMS rifle. Stag and RRA - haven't seen them. Probably because I visit a limited number of stores and shops on a regular basis.
Whatever. They're all black rifles as far as I'm concerned.

Buds gun shop has Bushy for around $800-900, which may actually be lower than RRA in general.

After I posted about the AR in Ca., I went to the gun store to pick up my Browning Buckmark 22 (which was not there like it was supposed to be; 40 mile wasted trip ). I asked one of the guys about the AR and he said exactly what you guys did.
I will be going later on this morning (Saturday) to pick it up. The mgr. said he'd throw in a box of 500 top of the line 22lr for my trouble. Then I will go to the nearby indoor range and put a few hundred rounds thru it. I'll oil it up first of course.

Yes you can own a legal ar in cali im builiding one right now have the lower and about to get an upper pretty quick. you just need to have a fixed mag. so you can have all the evil features. best way to fix the mag is use a bullet button since you have to use a tool "bullet" to drop the mag its consider fixed. or you could get the 22lr since its rimfire but id rather shoot .223 if you don't believe me check out calguns.net or come out with me and watch the 3 gun comp we all shoot ar's
