AK Build Party Who's In?
I will bring all of my jigs and tools needed to build a completely functioning AK. I have the barell removal tools, tg jig, starting on the rear long rivet jig as soon as i find the right steel. All of my tools can be brought with me except for the press. However all of my jigs can be used without a press so that is not a big deal. I can bring my small hf drill press which is perfect for builds. So yeah I will have everything needed to build an AK in the next week or two. I still need to make a flat bending jig that could be used with a press or a bfh. So who is in? I can not host this at my house sorry guys but I am willing to travel. Currently I am on the waiting list for a flat bending jig from the akfiles but it will be more than 6 months until i receive it so i am just going to build one. I would like to shoot for sometime in May or June.

I am in, I would be fine with hosting it, if it was in May/June we could do it in my home garage and set up tables and such to have lots of room. I have an automotive press not sure if that would work or not. Don't have enough power out there for the welder. And becuase of my idot naibors at my business shop I can't risk doing it there. What all would we need ideally?

Automotive press is fine as long as it is at least a 12 ton press.

I don't have any build plans yet (kit hording) but depending on when yall get together, if I'm not out of town working, I wouldn't mind sitting in and helping you guys.....if you'd let me, I'd even bring the rolling rock and some homemade BBQ.....

Everything sounds good. I figure this will take a while to plan and throw together to make sure everyone that wants to come has enough time to make plans. Ordering kits, compliance parts etc. and getting a day away from the kids and work.

midwest armory is the cheapest i have found so far for compliance parts. The only thing is that he ships extremely slow. It took two weeks for me to get my parts. He did throw a part in for free to.

When i say compliance parts, i mean things like a new set of handguards, having a second pistol grip is NG in NYS. So i figured i would go with a polymer type setup and while i was at it replace the rear pistol grip and butt stock also. I figured those, together with the G2 FCG i should be set in all aspects, i just havent ordered the new furniture yet.
P.S. Does one of us have a set of headspace gauges, or should i pick a set up?

Hi, just registered here.
I'd like in any time. I have all my parts plus two receivers I made up last year. Also have some small tools and a mapp gas kit. Built one Romy from scratch so far and it turned out great. Please keep me in the loop on this. |
