Need advice from yall..

I'm looking to buy an AR10 now. I was dead set on the S&W M&P10 but I've been looking around. I found 2 other canidates. I found a CMMG with free float tube and stainless barrel for $1400 and a Sig716 for $1300. The M&P10 is $1400. It will be mainly a toy/ range gun. Just looking for the better deal/ platform before I pull the trigger.

Kinda funny until a day ago I had never even heard of this gun.

I do not own, have never shot or even seen a Sig 716....but yesterday I was shooting with a guy who's credentials as a shooter far surpass most people's who had nothing but excellent things to say of this rifle.

He claimed that he witnessed a coworker repeatedly make hits at 3k yards and was so impressed with the gun that he bought his own.

Of the choices you listed....get the SIG 716.

By the way, you did not mention which particular configuration for that SIG 716...and where are they for $1300 ?

For some reason, my BS detector just went haywire...

You realize that's nearly 2 miles, right?

I know how far it is.

It seemed really......REALLY far to me too.

I think not only is this individual ignorant enough to believe his friend, but he may be fluffing his credentials a bit as well. .308 is losing steam at 1k yards and dropping like a rock. It won't make hits at 3k.

Jus' sayin'.

To the OP, I'd personally go with the 716. IMHO, of course.

Re: Need advice from yall..

What if I took the 716 out if the equation? The guy seems kinda shady not wanting to meet FTF.

I'd say you can't go wrong with either the CMMG or S&W, but I'd rather have the S&W factory backing my rifle... Personal choice would be the M&P10.

Skip that shady fool.

This is the CMMG. Rifle, Mk3, .308, 18" SS, MC, LPGB, Mod1

I can't find much for reviews for them online and I've been looking for 2 days now. Been through the AR sites.

My GF likes the CMMG because it looks better.. lol The stainless barrel is nice though. I'm sure they would both go bang when the trigger is pulled but wanted opinions on them.
