NY laws pertaining to post-ban mods

So my AR was purchased prior to Jan 15th, and will be here soon. That said, it will, under current law, be considered an assault weapon that must be registered under Art 400 of the NYS PL. Since the two characteristic rule has been amended to make this firearm an assault weapon, is there anything in current law that prohibits me from modification? Say, putting on a working telescoping stock or a flash hider?

It may be here in a minute, but for now, I have to play Cuomo's game while I'm in school. Not to mention my current job requires extensive certification in just about every state.

Move here to VA my fellow bowhunter! Lots for sale around me. We'd be great neighbors. My backyard is my shooting range.

Yeah man, VA or PA -- northeast enough to be in Appalachia, but (so far) decent enough to not succumb to all the latest anti-gun hype.

I agree! I wish I could find somebody that I wouldn't have to pay for advice on this law. My thinking is that since I'm registering my "assault weapon" the characteristics that make it MORE of an assault weapon shouldn't be an issue, but then again, it's NY.

I have one question for ya: Is your AR in your hands yet?? If it is please disregard the rest of my post, but your "will be here soon" made it sound like you had not taken delivery yet....If you haven't taken delivery, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get it at least through a dealer even if you've paid for it. All the dealers I know pulled their inventory's and sent them back to the manufacturer as well as refunded any outstanding orders. Don't quote me but this is something I would look into. Just some friendly advice from an otherwise frustrated fellow NY'er.
