Would you?
I have an opportunity to trade my Bushmaster M4A3 even up for a DPMS Oracle LR 308. My Bushmaster has some sentimental value, as it was my first AR. I haven't done any mods, other than a qud rail. I've always wanted an AR in .308. I've read mixed reviews on DPMS in general but most negative reviews seem to come from "Brand name snobs". I do have another AR (RRA Predator Pursuit) and a couple more stripped lowers on order. So would you make the trade?

Depends on how much "sentimental" value that Bushmaster holds to you. For me, if I owned a couple other .223s and wanted a .308, I'd make the swap. Just personal opinion though.

As far as DPMS I recently purchased my 2nd one and love it as much as the first. I know the purists think they are junk but mine do everything I ask then to do, shoot and do it accurately. I would love to have a 308 myself. I can't offer any advise one way or the other as far as a trade, you'll have to decide that one. I'd just keep it and buy a LR308.

With you having more stripped lowers on hand and wanting it in 308. Can't see anything wrong with the trade.
Now if it were me. I'd be buying a 308. If I purchased the weapon its for keeps not to trade later in life. just my IMO

Depends entirely on if you'll kick yourself later on down the road. There's a few firearms I miss something fierce right now. Looking back it was a mistake to get rid of them.
As for the DPMS .308, I've not read anything bad about them, and their owners seem quite pleased. I don't think it would be a bad trade.

Thats kind of where I am. Will I regret trading mine away? Or, will I regret not trading more?

I don't know anything about the DPMS Oracle LR 308, but you should consider current market value and availability of the 308 vs the Bushmaster M4A3 and act accordingly. Hell, just buy the 308, I sure don't see the Bushmaster losing value any time soon.

.308 ammo is more expensive and in that configuration, not going to be much more of a precision shooter. Save your money get both later on, it'll be possible. If you're a hunter, and you plan on using it for that purpose, then swap now, get another .223 later. If you plan on 3gunning, or just a target shooter, hold on to what you got.
About a year and a half ago, I had a few drinks and ordered a PWS MK114 in 7.62x39. I thought for the longest time, why the hell did I do that. Now that 7.62x39 is the only ammo you can find, its my saving grace, and has quickly become my favorite rifle.

I think that DPMS is a great rifle for the price. Yes, it is hard to compare it to the high end rifles like Armailte, LWRCI, LaRue...In my opinion, it is the best .308 semi auto rifle for the price. I would trade for it in a heart beat. I was like you and had a hard time letting go of my first AR, but I am glad I did and now I wish I had done it sooner. Good luck!

DPMS is good to go... I own Colt, Spikes, Larue, DPMS and had a DD (wish I still had it). Buy the 7.62 DPMS and keep your Bushy. I LOVE my LR308AP4. I would not sell it for three times the price that I paid for it... not in these times. You will regret getting rid of your BM and you will regret letting this .308 pass by. I know... been there... done that... have the T-Shirt and a bumper sticker.
