In the past year I've paid as low as .34/rd and as high as .42/rd for .223 and from .21/rd to .24/rd for 7.62x39.

Bought some 7.62x39 last week for .24/rd, going to buy some later this week for .28/rd

I hope you guys are going to remember which companies gouged ridiculously during this swing and repay them by taking your business elsewhere when things stabilize.

Good call ///MCoupé. will do.

I'm showing up all the time on Wal-Mart's closed circuit TV coming in through the automotive section, checking the empty ammo shelves then leaving. I've got it down to a science. One guy doesn't expect to have anything on the shelves but dust until this summer.

Oh, I saw a suggestion that if you anyone shoots steel ammo (Russian) to load 2 or 3 steel then 5 to 6 brass in between to clean out the gunk left in there from the steel rounds. He suggested if you examine the brass that loads just after the steel, you'll see a lot of gunk. I'll try it this summer when I can buy more ammo and see. . .

Do you really think things will stabilize again? I've never seen this level of sales/out-of-stock. Ever.

Maybe Bob Owens' observation while walking through an empty-shelved LGS is correct:
"Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war."

It is already starting to moderate. Wideners and Palmetto both got in big quantities of Lake City and IMI 5.56 XM193 and M855 yesterday. It all sold out but it took all day. Prices were about half the panic buying levels with 1200 rounds of LC XM193 for 552.00 and 1200 rounds of LC M855 for around 572.00. I think that PSA had 420 rounds of 855 for around 220.00 or so. It was frenzy but I scored a case of each from Wideners. The weapons will take a bit longer to return to normal levels and the prices will stay elevated until supply catches up... but some companies will be receiving all of this "backordered" supply and some consumers will be buying this stock... and prices will moderate. Supply and Demand is real and works... unless the Pharaoh bans by royal decree... then all bets are off.

It will stabilize but not as soon as people think. This situation has created a "me too" syndrome causing people to buy in bulk - people that have never done so before.

The pricing is the good and bad news side of it. Prices won't go back down to 2012 levels again but the gouging will taper off and start to fall. Prices being higher will stop many from clearing shelves in one trip which in turn makes inventory available for the next person and thus helps stabilize the frenzy. Internet gouging will drive sales back to the local market because people will begin to accept their LGS prices which they once thought were ridiculous - this is already happening.

I was a big advocate of online buying before the unscrupulous gouging practices that began recently. LGS prices have climbed slightly but not like the online BS amounts from internet companies. I won't forget this.

I really hope you and many others remember this and prepare!

This is not the first time this has happened!

Wait a couple of months, markets will be flooded with guns and ammo from the current purchase. People who thought the ban is already passed. Those who thought that even buying right now for $$2500 a pop they could flip it for $25000 later on. $1 a round ? Wait till they get hit by bills and other priorities in life people will come back to their senses. Its just a mass hysteria right now.
