I even managed to get it before the price went completely insane. It arrives at my LGS and what happens? Our instant background check system is now a 7-10 day wait system due to an almost 11,000 check backlog. Here's hoping I can finally take it home by the end of next week.
I'll see about posting some pics once I can finally get it home.

I also picked up a SCAR 17 before the craziness started. I bought a .22 the background ck took 15 mins, the one for my SCAR took 3 days. Then my wife bought me a shotgun during the histeria and it took 8 days.
Good luck finding magazines for it. Midway has them backorder with expected delivery of 13 Jan 2014. I ordered some through OMB and they cancelled the order due to the fact they can't predict when any are going to arrive. I ordered some through X-tactical around the 27th of December and they expect shipment on the 18th of Jan. None of the LGS have any, but you can modify the FN-FAL 308 magazines to fit the 17. Good luck.

I'm hoping the state will get the lead out and I can pick it up tomorrow after work since tomorrow makes 8 days...

You will totally love the scar 17 heavy. I bought mine about a year ago, I changed out the muzzle brake and it still thumps so hard everyone at the range stops and looks.

SCAR Gun Porn
Okay - I finally got it home and had a few minutes to provide you with some good gun porn.
The big boy is in the foreground - and is obviously missing any new accessories - something I'll take care of over time. In the background is it's little brother the SCAR 16 all accessorized with ACOG optics and a gripod.
What do you all think?

Looking forward to some range time once I get it cleaned up and find appropriate optics. What are you using on yours?

What, you don't like stickers?
Already joined fnforum, but thanks for the invite! I'm just starting to get my feet wet so to speak...
Just an editorial comment as well. My SCAR 16 came out of the box spic and span - a little cleaning and it was ready for the range. Well, I'm saddened to report that the folks at FN quality control have been slipping. My Scar 17 was filthy straight out of the box. It took 10 minutes with a couple of brushes just to make it look presentable for pictures. The action is a filthy mess - guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!
