Troy Carbine at Dick's black friday deal

Dick's Sporting Goods - Weekly Ads & Catalogs

I pre-ordered one today, it should be in early next week - but I'm out of town, so wouldn't have had a chance to shoot before then anyways.

Only issue I've seen people report is that some mags do not fit right, but their battle mags should. Midway has them for $15/ea.

Pretty excited to pick it up - it's my first AR.

I have a few of the Troy Battle Mags and I've been very happy with them. I've put a thousand rounds through them so far without an issue.

$1100 bucks for an AR? From Dick's? No thanks. Much better deals out there.

Build your own with the parts you want at the price you want.

$799 (or $720 if you use Dicks CC) for an $1,100 AR? Not sure how you are gonna find a better deal than that. This build has almost $400 of just rail and rear sight. This deal is a STEAL! If I hadn't just purchased a Spikes Tactical complete upper yesterday, I would be all over this deal!

I gotta agree with you. Eureka40 obviously isn't up to speed.

I already had purchased 1 of these earlier in the year, and considered it a decent rifle for the $1100 price. When I saw the sale flyer on another forum Sunday, I decided to pick up another. Got to Dick's just after opening on Monday. The gun counter guy was just pulling out the display Troy. He told me that was the only one left in stock, but I could order one, if I didn't want the display. I surmised that it probably hadn't been handled much, based on its condition. He confirmed that, and said everyone wants to look at cheap Bushies and M&P Sports, but hardly anyone had looked at the Troy. Most people who bought a Troy came in knowing what they wanted.

So I purchased the display as a gift for my kid in the AF. Turns out the display model was one of the 1st 500, so I will probably keep that and give the kid my other, lightly used Troy (serial # 00017XX.) Got the sale discount, applied for a Dick's CC and got another 10% and was out the door for $771.

Do you have any recommendations for magazines? I've read that they have some issues, particularly with Pmags.

Also, just got 1k 223 Federal rounds, shipped for about 370.

I went ahead and purchased the Troy last night at Dick's.
it was the last one and the display model - and yes it is buggered up - VIA mishandling by DGS staff and the racks they keep them in
but I knew that up front... why would I do that?
I scored 1 of the under 500 serial number models that is machined billet - in the 200 # range.
I'll live with it - I have ordered some Duracoat FDE - I had been waiting for the Troy FDE model - which hasn't appeared yet but at the sale price I couldn't resist - even the wife said I did well
other than the areas on the handguard that are missing color/finish - it is a very nice rifle - smallish, light and quick to the shoulder
everything seems staked properly - although it was bone dry when I got it home - lubed it up immediately....
I'll probably paint the buttstock - if I don't simply replace and sell it and replace the grip with an ERGO FDE, and paint the rail FDE as well
$780 after discounts and taxes
