How much should I pay for a colt m4?
I am looking at buying an M4/AR-15 style rifle, I want a colt...just because it seems like they are one of the better brands. The price seems to vary a lot on the colts, $900 to $1500 dollars. Any one have any recommendations/guidance?

It really depends on which specific model. That variance in price is likely due to different models. So, if you don't know which features you would like, take a look at the Colt website and browse a little. From there, get it down to a specific model. I understand there will still be some variance in cost with a specific model, but it won't be $600!

I dont work for Walmart. But was recently there and I didnt see one on the shelfs but the guy told me they sell colts M4s for 1097. So check your local walmarts. As far as my recent shopping spree went. Walmart has most ARs for 200-300 bucks cheaper than the LGS. But you should do some reading on which colt you want before you go buy.

if you can find one under $1100 your doing good IMO. Its going to get worse for about 30 more days, I'd wait until after the election

Your location would probably help if you are looking for price comparisons.

I"d suggest to the OP that he do a little more research and not necessarily buy a Colt. Best decision I ever made about ARs was buying a Bushmaster, rather than a Colt, 20-yrs-ago. Don't know if I'd buy one of the current Bushmasters, as they're not the same as the older ones, but I don't think there's anything special about a Colt.
Anybody who's ever built an AR would have to know that there's nothing special about a Colt.
