As an owner of 5 Bushmasters and 2 Colts I would have to agree. I'm not going to get into another "parts ain't parts" argument because it's plain stupid. No one on this board knows who built what components for who. Let alone what standard they were built to.

As far as Colt prices, be aware that the new 6920's are recognised as "Sporter" models, and are not the Law Enforcement Carbines that Colt sold to all civilians under the 6920 banner. A new Law Enforcement Carbine will generally go for a couple hundred bucks more than one of the new "Sporter" 6920's which go for around the 1K mark. Is there any difference other than the stamping on the receiver? No one knows that either, but I'm sure many will claim to.

The 6720 is stamped as LE like the old 6920s. Does that mean anything? I dunno.

My LE6920MP-FDE is also stamped LE that is the prefix of the serial number and is also stamped Colt Defense.

I bought a Colt LE-6920 today for $979 with a free Colt case. This is the cheapest I have seen it in the Atlanta area.

That brings up a good point. Colt Firearms and Colt Defense are 2 different companies. Colt Defense manufacturers the military contract weapons, as well as the Law Enforcement Carbines. The Colt Sporter Models are manufactured by Colt Firearms. Some guys will argue back and forth the guns coming out of Colt Defense are manufactured to military specifications, while guns made at Colt Firearms are not. Is it true? And if it is does it actually mean anything? Your guess is as good as mine. But it is yet another grey area in the ever murky waters of AR-15 manufacturing that no one really knows about, but will always argue as if they do.
