+1 !

I went to the Bass Pro Shop store when it opened here in Phoenix a few years ago. At the time they said they would not carry any "Assault Style", or black rifles. I walked out and never returned, or ever will. The only reason they are carrying them, along with the accessories now, is they want to cash in on the popularity they were losing before.

They have started to carry them for the wrong reasons. Not because of the Second Amendment, but rather because of $$$$$$. Wal-Mart is the same. Both of these establishments put together are about as Second Amendment conscious as Sarah Brady. Piss on both of them!

Right... BPS's decision a few years ago to not carry any "Assault Style" rifles was solely a political thing and had nothing to do with only one of their long gun brands making an AR rifle [Bushmaster] at the time.

And since then, there hasn't been any gain in acceptance of AR's for sporting/recreation use, no additional "mainstream" AR offerings [Remington R-15??], and no developing signs that this "trend" has no indication of slowing down or contracting.

[/Sarcasm]

Businesses are in business. If they're not making money, they go away. I will not demonize a company that operates with an eye toward growing their bottom line.

Sometimes a business decision is just a business decision, not a personal slight against your personal wants, or an "OMG, they's keepin' down our 2A RIGHTS!!!>!>!N" moment.

If you want to hold a grudge, that's capitalism in action on your part, just like it is on theirs, and money talks.

I started this topic to let people know I'm seeing more local swag options popping up, you might too. That's all.

A business has the right to carry the items they want to carry.
BPS started as a fishing store.
They can carry or not carry what ever they want within the bounds of the law.
I can also choose where I want to spend my money.
I also get to post my opinion of a franchises business practices.

I'm not getting the "within the bounds of the law" part? What is BPS "bound to" that Cabela's, or anyone else isn't?

I wasn't speaking specifically to any particular store. they all are bound to the same laws, just these stores that won't sell some item for what ever reason they feel is important.

My beef with Bass Pro is they started out not selling EBR's because of a political stance. Then they saw how much money it was costing them, along with how "mainstream" AR-15 rifles have become, and they switched positions. I'm glad they saw the error of their ways. It's just sad that it was the dollars that turned them around. They can be bought.

Most political stances can be influenced by money, it's been proven time and again through history.

Still not sure why anyone is shocked... or upset about it.
