I honestly never expect to find myself in a combat situation.

if I do though I don't want to have to run back to my truck to repair or replace anything.

If u dont need a flip up sight the daniel defense fixed sights are exellent also and my first choice if not using a optic. They are priced decent and well made.

On my one AR that I intend to keep primarily iron sights, I have a Daniels Defense rear sight and a classic A2 FSB. On the rest of my ARs, which have either red-dot optics or scopes, the MBUS is my prefered back-up sight.

The bottom rifle has the Daniels iron sight. The top has a Nikon M223.

Me neither.
I dont have a BUIS on my AR, but I do have the option for irons. If my optic fails, its two thumb screws and Im changing it.the only time I feel you "need" a BUIS, is when you need the reliability. Im not saying that having one isn't nice.

Based off of the AR-15/M16 rear aperture sight, the Magpul MBUS rear flip up sight is equipped with both large and small apertures. It conveniently folds down and locks into place but flips up with just a press of the button. Windage adjustable, quickly mounts to any mil-spec 1913 Picatinny rail.

the "quickly mounts to any mil-spec 1913 Picatinny rail." and added expense part freaks me out.

I should have the mil spec rail part, right? I am buying two so it's 90 vs 120 dollars.

I ordered the Magpul MBUS from Palmetto before the 4th in order to get their deal. I think I paid 35 for it. That Mepro M21 looks pretty sweet. I think I'll start looking into them.

Part of your problem is you are looking at CTD (Cheaper than Dirt.) While they occasionally have excellent prices, their websites suck, with multiple listings with poor descriptions of the same part, as you found out. Those two listings are both for the same part (same Magpul part no.) If they will sell the part to you at the lower price, go for it. Most of the sites I checked had it at or close to the higher price, if they had them in stock at all.

And why two? Are you equipping two rifles? If only for one, you only need a rear, or at worst, a front and rear, which go for about $95 for the set.
