other than a unique weapon with a cool factor to it, I don't see the point of the AK mag AR lower when a standard AR lower will run x39 as well as other options.

It is with a few calibers and a few styles. There are some proprietary components out there.
5.56/.223, 6.5mm, 6.8mm, .300BLK can all be used in the same lower (usually)
Usually .308 (7.62x51) is mostly proprietary
7.62x39 (AK47 round) is fairly rare to find in AR form. If you look hard enough I believe they are out there, but I have yet to see one on a shelf somewhere...
My vote would be to build yourself a black rifle using that lower you have (5.56/.223 or .300BLK) and buy an AK, or that RRA LAR-47.

From my understanding, x39 doesn't run well in mags that are meant to run in an Ar lower. The reason for the Ak's curved mag is to help with reliable feeding. So a Ar that accepts ak mags would be huge if you want the Russian ammo but not an Ak. The 300 blackout appears to be a great round, but if price and the ability to buy bulk is an issue, just stick to the x39. It is really effective.

Yes but that RRA is not really an AR. RRA loves to go their own way. Similarly, their 308 AR styled rifle doesn't conform to either of the two 308/7.62 AR standards (DPMS or Armalite.)
here's a 7.62x39 AR that is interchangable

Problem with that is i have AK's and the downfall to it's design is it's accuracy but i love cartridge. i have seen plenty of .39 uppers for the ar platform and thought it would be great to have the knock down of the ak with the accuracy of the AR at a lower cost for ammo so i can be at the range longer......and why would a lower state that "any" caliber would work if it would pose a saftey issue. not being sarcastic ... just wondering....still an AR Newb.

They exist. In addition to RRA, Armalite and PWS make x39 uppers. Here my Colt I bought in 92. I really enjoy shooting it but Colt doesn't make parts for it anymore so I've had to use Armalite extractors. Other than extractors the thing just works whether it's in the rain, mud, etc it just seems to be bulletproof - except the extractor.

You definitely need to get x39 mags. Everyone's 5 and 10 round mags work since they fit in a straight body but hi-cap mags have always been the problem. Lots of folks don't like the old C-Products mags but those have been fantastic for me. Some of my C-Products mags are probably in the 8-10k round range.
There are also those frankenmags around still for about $40. AR 10 round top welded on the AR mag and hold about 40 rounds. They are ugly but they work.
