my new dpms

i just purchased a new dpms a15, well atleast they told me it was new!! Im concerned about the fact that it says .223/5.56 on the receiver but I cant find where it says it on the barrel. Im hoping its not a frankenrifle, and if it is I want to know if its safe to shoot 5.56? I have shot about 250 rounds through it so far, all but 20 rds. were 5.56, if it were really a .223 would I have already noticed problems? Would it be stamped on the barrel somewhere under the handgaurds where I cant see it?
Im really new the ar-15 platform and i paid alot of money for this thing, I really dont want to mess it up.

Probably uses a Wylde chamber. I think DPMS has been building receiver chamber like this on most of their line. It's safe. It is built to handle the pressure of the 5.56 all day long.

DPMS builds with .223 barrels and 5.56 barrels I have yet to see any .223 wylde from them. The recievers are the same but you need to see what the actual chamber is. Yes it is likely under the handguard. Do you know what model it is?

True. They make many more models with. 223 chambering than 5.56. If im not mistaken.Id stick with .223. The headspace is slightly different I believe. Enjoy the shooter.

Any reason you think your Lgs would lie about it being new? My dpms has 223 and 5.56 stamped on the receiver. It shoots both fine.

I got a dpms, and its got the 5.56 stamp under the barrel forward of the handguards.

dpms does manufacture the wylde chamber.

Your DPMS rifle will shoot either .223 or 5.56 MM safely.

Caliber and Twist Rate should be under handguards.

bottem of the barrel a few inches behind the muzzle break. In front of your gas block.

Thats where mine is.
