of the 2 i would probably go with larue if it wasnt a price issue lol. google the dd. i was looking at one before i did my build i saw them in the 1200 range i believe you just got really search. for price id say the dd cuz you can find one easier than a larue and find discounted prices. if you are leo or military i believe dd does a %5 discount

I'm probably going to order directly from either one. Neither are in stock anywhere.
The more I look at the rail on the DDV7, the more I wonder if I will like it......I think a vertical grip will look odd stemming off of the narrow tube-like rail...

Right now I am leaning towards the LaRue...I'll have to pay tax, being in Texas, but I think, for what I get, it is a better bang for the buck....still not sure and there doesn't seem to be much input either way. I have emailed both companies and asked roughly what to expect as far as a waiting time frame from the time I place the order until it is ready for pick up or shipping.

Just an update, at this time I am really leaning towards the LaRue. Either way, my Aimpoint PRO is on the way!

That is a tough decision as both manufacturers make quality AR's. If it were me? Well I would go towards a Daniel Defense AR. The reasons I would choose a DD over a LaRue are:
- Daniel Defense makes a huge deal out of reliability when it comes to their rifles. I'm not saying that LaRue's rifles are not reliable, as I stated earlier, both mfgs make good quality AR's. You will, however, find a ton of video's on the internet showing Daniel Defense rifles being run through torture tests over and over again and still shoot accurately. I have not seen one video or write up, as of yet, showing a LaRue Tactical rifle being run through a torture test. I have seen plenty of videos and write ups showing the accuracy of a LaRue rifle but that's it.
Now I realize that most of us AR owners won't be abusing our AR's as they do in the torture tests but just knowing that the rifle I purchased has been proven to take a beating and still hold up, well that is just a little added piece of mind.
- The second reason is more of a personal one...I am originally from Georgia and that is the home of Daniel Defense.....again, personal...

Another thing you might take note of is that DD has a U.S. Military contract as well as a UK contract.....

Lol, as to your second preference, I live 18 minutes from LaRue's factory....so it could be personal for me..
Honestly, I am starting to be more iffy on the rail of the V7. Glad to see some input though as to why you, and others, have selected the rifle you did. I can't imagine that wait is legitimate but I also know that the LGS' around me mark up their prices enough that I will be best spent buying online. I know the general desire is to support your local LGS and I use them for transfers but I am not fond of the employees. Another topic for a different thread though.
LaRue did let me know that there is a 14-16 week waiting period and that they do not have a storefront so I would not be able to pick up the rifle.......so kinda bummed there. That means that I would have to pay sales tax, shipping, and FFL.....

You might be able to skip sales tax and shipping but there is no way around the ffl fee. To be honest though, you really cannot go wrong with either AR. If you want to purchase a LaRue since you live in Texas, then by all means go for it. I can understand not liking the long waiting period but know that which ever you choose, regardless of make, you are getting a good rifle.
