Spooled has a point. What kind of muzzle device do you have? I put a Nordic Corvette comp on my competition gun and it made a huge difference. I also switched to a fiber optic front post so that sight acquisition is just a little quicker.
One other tip - when you practice, use a SMALL target, like get some 1" orange stickers and paste a few of them on different parts of the target. Having a small area on which to focus really helped me learn how the gun was moving in recoil.

Shouldn't you be keeping both eyes open with your irons sights?

I currently use the stock A2 flash suppressor...
Would upgrading to a BattleComp or something similar make that large of a difference?
I never thought about actually changing parts on the gun to help myself out lol...

A new muzzle break might help reduce recoil slightly, but IMO 5.56 and .223 do not really need it...but it cant hurt. Plus, a wicked muzzle break is always cool.

Muzzle brakes aren't so much about recoil reduction. As you said, the platform doesn't have much recoil to begin with.
Muzzle brakes are about reducing muzzle flip, aka muzzle lift. They keep your muzzle flat so after you break a shot, you're closer to being on target or even still on target, so you can break your next shot much more quickly.

I run a Miculek comp on mine. When I had the red dot on it the sight wouldn't move from shot to shot. Down side is everyone at the range is going to hate you it is stupid loud, but I think it is funny so see people's WTF face when I crack a few off. Yocan has some good points grip and stance as for frisbee thats your call.

it helps, but please wear ear pro, and make sure everyone else around you is, many a military range I've seen people not wearing ear pro, with a comp my surefire plugs were not enough I needed muffs. I'm not sure what comp the guy had at that shoot I went to in Corpus Christi but man it was loud. I would literally get out from under the roof of the waiting area due to the pressure wave.
Puppy dog practice is good for you (aka ultimate frisbee)
