A bit of advice.
I'm looking into getting a new AR. I used to own a Armalite that was pretty nice. It was used and didn't cost all that much. Now that I am looking for an other, should I get an other used rifle, add the things I like onto, or get a D.D. for about $1500? I'm pretty willing to do the D.D. But is it TRULY worth it. It's just going to be a fun gun to own and shoot. If SHTF really happens, then it will become more than that. I know people say to just build a spikes or buy one and they are running about $1100ish for a full rifle. Is the D.D. that much better? I'm taking options, I don't have to have one and I don't NEED one and it does not NEED to be the best. A buddy of mine has a Ruger, and dang that gun is nice. But pretty spendy from what little I looked around.

The Daniel Defense is a very nice rifle. Depending on which model you're looking at, $1500 may be a bit steep. You may want to shop around a little bit.
Have you seen their torture test?

Those were straight from the web site, so I know it would be cheaper else where. Since you bring up a torture test, do you think the others I've listed could handle the same thing? Or not? The Daniel Defense is super sexy and I know they are top notch and all, but is there anything I wouldn't be getting with a "lesser" brand?

The DD is very nice, and priced right in line with what you'd pay if you were to add on all the extras yourself, only without the box of loose parts rattling around in the back of your closet. If you're looking for something in a more stock configuration then I'd look at a Colt 6920 or BCM. I think the BCM may have an advantage in that it's available with a mid length gas system.

I've heard a lot of good about the Bravo company as well. If it came down to the same price for nearly the same gun, which is the better choice? I understand this is purely opinion based though. Thanks guys!

All of the brands listed here are all top notch. At the end of the day though get what you want. DD does have a lot of the stuff you would throw on it already installed vs just getting an M4 and adding accessories.

I do agree. So, would you say that a $700-900 AR with all my add-ons would be about as good as a D.D?

Not really. The quality is all in the materials used and the build. Not what you add on.

Daniel Defense makes a good quality rifle...they can take a brutal beating and still remain reliable....
