I didn't mean to sound offensive. I think I will trust a polymer lower just fine. I carry a polymer pistol to w ork everyday. I fail to see any difference.

Great minds think alike! I'm working on a sub-$500 AR15 myself, hoping to have the bulk of the parts on the way in a week or so. So far, I've been able to cut costs down to $531 to build a rifle on the same polymer lower you linked to, as well as buy a couple PMags and a detachable carry handle (cheapest rear sight I thought would be worth buying). I'm hoping to get it all done for under $500, not including shipping and FFL transfer for the lower, but I'm thinking if I can trim a couple more bucks off my list as it stands, I should be able to get it done for under $570 total, including all related expenses.

You can follow my build if you'd like, click here for the link.

I just looked at an article in Shotgun News magazine. They built one for under $480. It (the magazine) was at the ammo counter in Walmart.

I too am a plum crazy lower user, around 600 rounds on 5.56 and a couple thousand .22 and no issues at all.
