I couldn't get pilots link to work but only thing I'd ad are don't try to face off and shoto them when their snout is looking at you in the head, skull makes a ramp to bounce bullets off. (if your in a tree and its looking down you can do it but if your looking at him and he at you it will bounce)

I've seen a 22-250 ricochet off the forehead and others have had that happen with 223.

My suggestion at least a 10rd mag. I've seen some people do some dumb crap (like shooting a 600 lb one in the rear hip) and you might just need the extra ammo. And if a group of piglets are very tasty and the ideal thing to shoot, the ar is perfet for them shoot all you can.

I think both rounds you listed where less then ideal but I'd probably go penetrator but both should work sub 400 lbs. I'd go 72 grains or heavier with some sort of solid bullet

Yup, this is what I do. Drops them every time, as long as I do my part. I also successfully hit one through the eye that was about 30 yards away, that wouldn't turn broadside.

That was freaking awesome. A .25 Airgun? Saweet. I will shoot him behind the ear.

Okay, I think I see where to hit it. It is kinda hard to really tell in those photos. But from the last bit of the text on the page I think I found a good spot. Thanks Pilot

The little ones might go down with an airgun, but some of the boars in Texas run over 300 Lb and you need something a little larger to guarantee a kill. My buddy with farmland near Dallas uses an AK. I use a .308 Remmy 700 or my 6.8SPC AR. Not so much hunting as varmint eradication.

This picture is from that TexasBoar site, but was shot in Georgia. Supposedly about 400lb.

the airgun aspect wasn't the point as much as the shot placement.

Damn right. So now I know I will be fine with the ammo I got. A 62gr. Fusion Soft Point behind the ear will work perfect. It will expand and take him out for sure. But If I miss vitals somehow do you think I should have penetrator's for the following shots to take him out easy If he runs? Something to go through the bones broadside?
