Yeah sorry 'bout that. I pasted the wrong image code. The kukri is in my avatar though.

That's comforting to know that my mind is still intact....I think?

What brand is it if you don't mind me asking?

There are better quality rifles but I think technology has reached a point that the extra quality is almost unusable to the average person.

An example of this would be comparing a 185 bhp 1000cc liter bike to a 150 bhp 600cc bike. They are both devistatingly fast sports bikes. There are plenty of race situations where the 1000cc bike would shine brighter than the 600cc version. That being said, as daily drivers the extra 35 bhp is almost exclusively for bragging rights. Did I still buy the ZX10R instead of the ZX6R? Yes. The bragging rights where worth the added cost in sticker price, insurance and gas. That doesn't mean the statistics or quality of the 1000cc bike rendered the 600cc bike worthless or of poor quality.

Your DPMS is of substantial quality and will serve you well in any situation you will find yourself in. Mine has:

That is not what I said. I said you have zero knowledge where the parts are made, what they are made from, what if any heat treating has been applied, or what tolerances they were manufactured to. In short you know nothing that is required to judge how good they are, let alone how much "better" one is over the other.

I get this kind of crap all the time from the ninjas at ARFCOM and M4Kool-Aid .net, who all fall lock step into the same silly belief they could not prove if their life depended on it. Companies do not release this kind of information because it would void contracts and confidentiality agreements. So the ninjas simply guess, then come back with the same regurgitated nonsense of , "Prove me wrong"! How about once, just once, they prove themselves right.

How much longer will my Colt last over my Bushmaster? They, you, I , or the AR-15 God himself cannot answer that. No matter, they keep believing the fantasy. I get the same on every forum this starts up on. I'm still waiting. I'll die of old age before I ever get an answer.

I shall continue on the derailment of the original post only to answer the man's question. It is LCW Duracoat in Tiger Stripe Brown. It is darker than FDE and Coyote Brown but lighter than Regular Brown. It is great for desert or woodlands use IMO and still looks great with FDE accessories. The stock, flashlight and magazine are all three different companies' take on "FDE" and they are all a little different. The Tiger Stripe Brown kind of ties them all together.

also... RTR

I've built two AR-15s off of DPMS platforms.

They started as bone stock M4geries and ran really well from there 2.5k rounds without any issues.

I ended up putting on different barrels and a few other goodies (principally because I wanted to replace the gas block and didn't want to deal with those miserable taper pins).

In their current configuration they've both got a little over 4.5k rounds down the barrel and are still ticking just fine.
