I was just stating my opinion on those particular handguards and how I don't like the looks of them. But yet every place that sells varmint rifles use that type of HG. So, I was asking a serious question about that type of HG (vs. a quad rail vs. standard A2, etc.). What makes them special to hunters that the certain HG is always used. The smoother HG makes sense if you're using bags to rest on so it doesn't get stuck/snagged.
And I didn't mean I'd put a light on a varmint rifle. You probably wouldn't want a light for that. Mine is not going to be used for varmint (or other animal) hunting.
Wow. I never meant to insult anyone. If you like those types of HGs, then great. I don't. Personal opinions. That's all. We're all different. Hopefully I'll have something on my AR that you guys can bust on and tell me you hate.

Just so you know, standard handguards don't allow for barrels to be floated and if you want an AR thats super accurate, its gotta be floated. No reason to stick a quad rail on either, no reason for a varmit gun to have anything attached other than a bipod. Remember to place function over looks, its a huge mistake most AR users make, buying a bunch of crap, throwing it on their gun, not knowing how to use it, not knowing how to shoot.

Everyone is going to have different taste when it comes to guns. Me personally, I can not stand those huge rails on a AR. I have seen ARs with everything attached to them except for the cup holders. Most people who build those rifles are not going into battle with them so whats the point of having 2 million scopes on them, 4 flashlights and 5 lazers? I would say most of those guns spend time at the range shredding paper.

Dave,
No harm no foul, I was just throwing a little sarcasim back your way.
I like the rail look on a shorter CQB type AR. All's good with me.

What bipod is that?.........I can't decide what Harris height I want. I'm thinking 9"-13" since I'll be shooting prone mostly.

You nailed it. It's a Harris 9x13"
