Location of the red dot on the rail

Hey!
I just got my larue mount today! Cannot wait to put it on my gun!
Here is the question, how does the location of the red dot on the rail affect its performance?
Is there a "correct" location to install the red dot on? Since its not magnified there is no eye relief, I am asking because I am getting ready to put it one and cut the foam out of the pelican case! I wanna make sure I get it on the right slot!

Thanks!!!

Red dot location

Where to place your red dot depends on you and your preferences, unless like in the military and police you have to locate it where it will fit in the weapons storage rack or be useable with a magnifier or other accessories.

I like to place it as far forward on the receiver as I can but not on the handguards as they can move around a little. You might be able to see a little by my avatar.

It also depends on the type of red dot scope you use and how visible the dot is. I have seen some optics that you can't see the dot if it all the way forward. Also location depends on if you are running a back up iron sight and how much room it needs to deploy if it folds down.

On my personal M4 with an Aimpoint M2 with back up iron sights I have it set up to cowitness.

Try it a few different ways, and you will find what is right for you and then practice with it.

Like all rifles and different users, you will probably make a few changes to your setup before you settle on the best one for you.

Good luck, be safe and have fun.

This is where I put mine, I'm saving room for a magnifier.

Play around with it and see where you'll be comfortable with it...Just like a vfg, it is subjective and based on personal preferences...I have my red dots not to close but a little bit further down...

Yea I think I found it!
My primary concern is cutting the pelican case... I did not want to set a spot that would be "incorrect", further more I was a little concern at first positioning the dot right above the ejection port =)

I guess now you can cut the foam out since you've found the sweet spot...pics when it's done...
