jp reduced power trigger springs

anyone used the jp reduced power trigger springs? im thinking about matching them with a spikes tactical battle trigger. there's a disclaimer on the spikes website though about use in duty rifles

*I would NOT recommend these springs in a Duty Application due to primer ignition on center fire rounds unless the mass of the hammer was reduced*

anyone mind clarifying this for me?

What tha mean is that the spring may not be strong enough to cause primer ignition unless you reduce the weight of the hammer to compensate for the lighter springs. Essentially, this means the gun may not go "bang" every time.

I have the JP springs in my M&P15 and my M&P15-22. It cuts the trigger weight about in half from a stock trigger. You still have the same trigger creep, but that's easy to fix if you have a tap and a set screw.

I have them in, and I have not had a problem. I was aware of this when I first got it. When I first installed them, I went to the range and "tested" all of my normal ammo. It all went bang, even some russian with hard primers.

If I did run into a FTF, I was ready to switch out the hammer spring and leave in the trigger spring.

I got one in my AR22 - it seems nice, but not much different than the 15 min trigger job. Which works fine for all the ammo Ive tried.

The hammer spring is part of it.

The 15 min trigger job will help some - its not a great trigger but better than stock, and if you dont like it your only out a few bucks for a new hammer spring. The polishing will help smoothing things out too.

I leave all my SHTF or go to AR without any mods. I have a 2stage for varmints and the 15min trigger on another blaster.

Use the whole kit. The trigger spring alone is no great benefit .

I thought about using the reduced power JP springs and/or doing the 15 min trigger job, but in the end felt I'd screw something up. I ultimately decided to try a Bill Springfield trigger 3.5 lbs trigger job. He uses the JP reduced power springs, in addition to polishing parts and cutting the tail off the hammer ('speed hammer' mod). Everything - springs and mods - work together very nicely to produce a light and crisp trigger.
