Having trouble threading this A2 flash hider.

Both threads are the same, I just can't seem to get it to seat on the barrel.

I've tried running a rod through the barrel to keep the flash hider straight, but it's not working.
Any help?

Well, that's what I thought. The barrel's brand new, so is the FH.

I've checked inside with a flashlight and to no avail.

This is only a place holder until a barrel shroud arrives, but I do not want to damage the crown by firing without even a thread cap.

Peel, crush, and split ring washers are all specific and I've never seen anything at the hardware that would work without modifying it.

You won't damage anything, if you fire with nothing on the threads.

The washer is designed for you to be able to tighten the hider, but at the same time positioning it so the closed end points down. You can also just screw it down tight but it won't be aligned correctly.
