High mount if you have BUIS you want to witness. Low if you have no irons.

I have a high mount on my vortex.

I like the high mounts for an AR15.

I ordered a Strike Fire for my sons AK, ordered the low mount and Sportsmans Guide shipped the high mount by mistake.

The high mount was too high for the AK but I didn't want to mess with shipping the whole thing back to SG, so I called Vortex and they sent out a low mount for $15 or so.

That's strange. My wife ordered a Strike fire in September. The box was marked with High mount, but it came with a low mount. We called for an exchange and 2 days later it was in the mailbox. Along with a postage paid envelope to return the low mount.

Did you just purchase the low mount to keep the high on hand?

Yes, I just wanted to keep the high mount in case we decided to put it on an AR in the future.

These any good? At $150 it's hard to resist... What do they do/not do?

I like mine

I have one and like it. One problem is that it turns on too easy. Every time I case it and take to the range, it is on when I pull it out of the case.

I think they are pretty decent for the price. Red and green dots, Night Vision compatible, seem plenty rugged. Fairly decent battery life.

I ordered one, it never worked.
I sent it back and they sent me another.
It worked for one trip to the range, then never worked again.
They sent me another.
I will sell it when i save up enough for an aimpoint.

That's my only complaint. Every time I take out of the tactical bag, the sight is on. The pressure from the bag sides activates the power/color switch. Obviously, no problem with that when it's at home in the safe. Otherwise, it works good. It has retained zero all summer and fall, with about 1500rds through it.

Oh, and I have the high mount, co-witnessed with my F-height front sight and a Magpul MBUS rear.
