The general rule is up to 69 grain but it varies from barrel to barrel.

I use steel cased Monarch ammo quite a bit and I've never had any problems. It's dirty and should not be used to sight in irons or optics IMO. However for plinking and cheap trigger time, it's fine. Just clean your carbine afterward.

Not that I'd ever run one round of Wolf ammo through any of my ARs, but the old Wolf was lacquer-coated and caused muy problems. The new Wolf is polymer coated and is just crappy ammo...other than that, it won't clog up the works like the lacquer-coated crap would.

I shoot wolf and monarch when not shooting reloads. 55gr and 62gr.

I tried Wolf in boh of my Ar's and had no problems other then the smell. Has a definite and distinctive odor. Otherwise no problems. I keep a case around for cheep plinking.

I don't use the Wolf stuff or anything with steel cases.

I have an AR with a 1/9 twist. I regularly shoot 68 grain bullets through (very accurate). That's from a 16" barrel. I also regularly shoot 40 grain bullets through that AR (very accurate).

I'm not positive that's what you're asking so I'll add this...
you can shoot heavier bullets through your 1/9 - they just won't stabilize past a certain distance (if they stabilize at all) - so try what you want and test at different distances to see what you get.

I have few rifles with 1/7 twist, so I also load/buy some heavier stuff (75gr, 77gr). I have tested them in my 1/9 twist. I loose a little accuracy, but they would be effective out to 200 yards.

I've seen 1/9 twists that don't stabilize anything heavier than 62gr, so the true answer is that you'll have to test a little. Common answer is that the 1/9 will usually work well up to 69gr.

I wouldn't buy a bunch of any ammo over 62gr until you do some good testing yourself.

Good Luck
