So I was surprised that some ARs were not on the list (like any of the LWRCi guns or the 6.5 Grendels) and that others made the list a few times (like DPMS but not for their LR308 or 338 Fed, etc).
What did you think? Any particular surprises of guns on there or missing?

Kind of an odd publication, Magazine/Web site, to review AR-Styled Rifles. I would expect Tactical Arms, or some 'Black Gun' Mag or Web site to do such a review. I did find it very information, as I am new to the AR line, and did not realize that AR stood for Armalite.
Also odd the the reborn Armalite company is in Geneseo, IL. the home town of Springfield Armory. Lots of great info for a newbie such as I.

I've been shooting ARs for a few years now (not nearly as long as a lot of folks on this forum) and I haven't built one (like a lot of folks on this forum have) but I still learned a lot reading through the reviews. If one of the Black Gun mags had done the review they would likely have generated a completely different list. The article was very informative!

Chances are, there are a lot of us on this forum who know a lot more about ARs than those guys @ Field and Stream!

Yea it did seem like an odd mag to review AR's but i'm not the editor, so to each their own. One thing i did notice while looking through the "top 25" that they had.
There seemed to be multiple bushy's and DPMS rifles. The fact that they called the DPMS AP4 the "New standard" sets the tone for this one.
Another annoying thing, DS arms gets in using LMT's MRP upper, but LMT doesn't make it in? the only DSA part on there is the lower, which is wearing an LMT sopmod.
over all, just some odd selections. they have the Knights Armament SR25, but no RRA 308's. They have a POF and a JP race gun, but nothing but the HBar from Colt. No LMT, no DD. I guess they approached it form the hunting perspective, at least thats what they are claiming. Who uses an Oly pistol to hunt??

I would say overall, quite the crappy selection. No LMT, no Noveske, no DD, only 2 Colt's(and they arent even main stream Colts like the 6920). Not even any Rugers or Sigs.
Remington-really
Olympic pistol-really
Multiple DPMS, bushmaster and RRA-really they are the best?
Armalite-havent heard good things about their current products
POF-I dont think there are enough of those guns out there to really make a good decision about one.
KAC-Great guns, but the average person cant afford one

That is a piss poor list....Aside from the Knight's and the Colts I really don't think any of those other rifles are "Top 20", not my top 20 anyway. Oh well...

The vast majority of magazine articles/reviews & such, in general, are hardly worth the paper they're printed on

Interesting to me was that this was the first comment left by a reader about the article. Ugh...
