Buffers and reducing felt recoil and faster double taps

I have stag 2L and I'm thinking of swapping out buffers and possibly spring. I'm fairly certain I have standard 3 oz CAR. I can find no markings. and the crappy scale I have shows that it doesn't break the 3 oz mark. I usually shoot 55 gr PRVI M193 but occasionally I shoot some Rem green box .223 55gr. I know swapping out buffers can cause reliability problems with varying loads.

I have perused the M4carbine forums but really kinda in the dark.
Ideas?
Car std3.0oz
Car H<td>3.8oz
Car H2<td>4.6oz
Car H3<td>5.4oz
RRA 9mm<td>5.6oz

Carry a gun you can fight with. Anything else is putting you in a postion of loose.

It's my understanding that the H buffer is the ideal buffer for a CAR. The heavier buffers are the ones that tend to cause reliability issues, while the H buffer calms recoil and ensures proper function under all circumstances.

Hope that helps.

I run ARrestors in all my ARs these days. Coupled with a Superior Shooting flat-wire spring, it's pretty freaking awesome.

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

I use the H2 buffer in my stag along with the LMT improved bolt, Buffer spring is the standard and I think it has been a great swap noticable difference. I have put over 2k rounds with the new h2 buffer no missfeeds or failed extractions or any of that jazz. I also shoot 55grain xm193 and .223 usually whatever is available. I have shot several brands of ammo as well as several different bullet weights through the gun and have had no issues to date. go with the h2. Civilian model ar-15's like stag have a larger gas hole to increase reliability thrugh a wider range of amunition, this increases overall functionality but is hard on the gun and by adding the extra weight you will add more inertia to the bolt carrier coming back into the buffer tube allowing disipation of gas over that time slowing the bolt carrier and reducing rate of fire, snd slowing the cycle of operastions.

I did a lot of reading before doing this to my gun and as it stands if there was ever an issue I would just return to stock bolt or drop to the h buffer but so far the h2 has been great.

I also run standard A2 flash supressor

good luck.

The different buffer weights are meant to change the speed of the BCG to counteract various differences in guns(barrel length, BCG weight, suppressor use, gas port size or piston guns, bullet loading, etc...). While they can change the felt recoil, it is not really because the recoil is more or less, it is because the gun is operating slower(or faster) thus changing the speed of the recoil into your shoulder.

Does your gun work 100% now? Does it short stroke? If your gun is working 100% right now, I would not change a thing with the buffer because all you would be doing is ****ing with something just for the sake of ****ing with it and it could cause more issues than it solves.

I would do like like VR4 says and get a PWS556, that is the next purchase for my DDM4. I have seen videos of an FA SBR being shot one handed and it was totally controllable with the PWS556.

The Tubbs Flat coil chrome silicone spring IS awesome. I am a firm believer they should come as standard equipment on AR's.

I have one on my M4 in a rifle length Ace stock, and I had one on my 24 inch AR with PRS until I sold it last spring to get some of the money to buy the SMG.

Ironically though, my SBR (magpul M93) is all bone stock. I tried an H2 buffer in it, but sometimes it wouldn't lock the bolt back on the last round. Go figure, an SBR that runs perfectly exactly the way it was designed.

I have a BCM auto bolt and a vortex flash hider with regular carbine buffer and spring and the recoil is very low. I just ran a 3gun match today and I had some of the tightest double taps.
