Should be a good barrel. It's my understanding that the chamber is also hammer forged.

Regular barrel, not the new hammer forged DD barrels.

I'll worry about the barrel's not being hammer forged, every time I shoot a round through it!

You can pick up the non-stripped version of this barrel from PK Firearms for 235 shipped. They also have the hammer forged version of this barrel for 290+ shipping.

I just ordered the regular version a couple of nights ago and am waiting for it to show up at my door any minute now.

I'm kind of enamored with the $169 version. Don't want their sight base, etc., anywho. Bet it was a GREAT barrel, before the "New, Improved Model" came out. Except for the hammer-forging, the specs are the same.

Someone on another thread said that DD was laying off people and maybe going out of business...does anyone know if this is true??

They cut back, and are not going out of business.

I bought a beaver creek barrel from Brownells thats now a rusty piece of crap after 120 rounds. Brownells is being nice enough to let me return it in exchange for the DD barrel described in this thread. The barrel wasn't available from Brownells when I got mine. So that should work out well!
