Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf

ETA: Never mind that last question - looks like about $23-25/box of 20 rounds.

I think I saw someone on migunowners, up in the Kewenaw has one for sale.

I think the best use for it would be hunting in the restricted pistol zones.

I have one and like it. Have taken it hunting a time or two but could not locate a willing victim. It vaporizes frozen milk jugs (334gr JHP @ 1900 FPS)... and I do mean vaporize!

I would not buy one of the big-bore AR's (.50 BW, .458 SOCOM) unless you reload. The cost of factory ammo coupled with the inability to find it easy makes shooting them a pain in the rear.

Do you reload?

I've only fired one it was a hoot, but before I began firing the guy told me they were $2+ a pop. After that bit of knowledge I only fired off two rounds and almost felt like I should have given him a $5.

I don't reload now, but I would probably consider it, if I started shooting these mammoths.

You might look into the 450 Bushmaster.

Hornady factory ammo isn't too expensive, or too hard to find.

A shooting buddy of mine has an AR with an Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf upper. It punches pretty sharply, about like a 12 gauge shotgun (recoil) and of course the ammo is $2.00-$3.00/round. Not something for casual range shooting or weekend plinking. However it has an insane amont of energy downrange, and would put down most any game animal you point it at. If you have the need for a REALLY hard hitting caliber for <150 yards, it is a great option. Plus, it does have a high CDI (chicks dig it) rating at the range.
