How does one get started in reloading ?

HI everyone,
I am very interested in getting started in reloading. I have spent so much money this last year on .357 sig and 45 ACP ammo I need to do something. I don't necessarily need advice on what reloader to buy, but more or less learn "how to" reload. Any advice would be great.

thanks,
Brian

Do exactly what R/T said, "Buy a good manual".

Then go buy another...then another.

I like Speer, Lee is O.K. Sierra is excellent.

Might as well get them first, because you will need them and once you get started, you won't want to go back ang buy them later.

Read them cover to cover. Much of the info is the same, but sometimes there is a tremendously important tidbit in one manual not listed in another.
(that part about military brass and primer pockets for instance).

Then buy a press, dies, shell plates, hand-primer, calipers, scale, powder-measure, tumbler, primer pocket cleaner, chamfer tool, primers, powder, brass, and bullets.

Now the fun begins, but do not skip the first step!!! sab

ditto

follow their advice - presses are like a chevy / ford argument - but reading those manuals are the key.

it might sound like a lot of work at first, but i think you will benefit from reloading for those 357 sigs. i started out with 9mm because i had a ton of brass lying around, now that i am into 40 SW, the cost savings is paying off.

consider those manuals as the gosphel - be weary of some advice that does not jive online with your manuals.

finally, have fun, and shoot safe

Learn how to load using a single stage press until you realy know what you are doing, then just spend the money on a Dillon progressive press. You can always use the single stage to load rifle ammo later.
