Well....the madness has started....
Got my Lee reloading setup yesterday. Spent last night mounting everything the way I wanted and de-priming a few cases, expanding them, and putting a chamfer on the cases. Then I took a few minutes to get to know my scales and powder dispenser.
So far.....I love it. I can see this is going to be a fun hobby. Now...to find some bullets to order so I can actually start making some loads. If you are new and thinking about starting this hobby...I definetely recommend that you get the books from Lee...The ABC's of reloading and the new book they have out, the name slips me right this minute. I have read each cover to cover and I can tell you...without reading some so informative, I would have been lost. I think more people should do their own...

I also have a new set-up from Lee and should be up and running but life keeps interfering. I have some 230-grain lead bullets from Missouri bullets that look real good and the price was right. Intend to try loading them with 5.3 grains of Unique because that's a bulky-enough powder that an accidental double charge would be obvious and no charge would also be obvious. Was told that this was very good for a begginer like me.
Strongly recommend that you dig through reloading advice on this site which has some very knowledgeable people familiar familiar with pistol ammo...not always the same as loading bottle-necked rifle cases. I've learned much here and they've graciously answered my endless questions. |

Welcome to a complete new side of shooting. There are those of us who shoot, and then those of us who shoot and reload. You will know what i mean. Anyways I find that I like reloading almost more than shooting. A great reloading site to check out is glockpost.com and tell them I sent you. They are a great bunch of reloaders in a small community like here.

I started loading with a Lee 4-Hole Turrett about a month or so ago. I couldn't be happier with it. As far as bullets, check out Precision Delta, you can get FMJ for about the price of lead at most other places.

Congrats!! I also re-load with a lee turret press. I use red dot powder and lead round nose bullets. Couldn't be happier.

Congrats on the buy..
We just started on re loading here as well. I purchased a dillion square deal for the hubby. Of course after he got all the powders measured right and everything setup, I had to play with it. Nothing like I was expecting and I spent a good 30 minutes out there with him messing with it. I made the first bullet from it. Would love to know the name of the other book you are reading. Looking into purchasing a few from Amazon this weekend if we cannot find anything out at Cabela's. |
