CXP1 .223 for home defense??

I recently...cough10minutesagocough bought 2 boxes of Winny CXP1 44gr Silver Tipped Ammo. I figured at 10.00 a box it couldn't hurt. I tried looking for feedback on these but cannot. I feel that a rapid expanding frangible round would be ideal in a home invasion situation. It's an awfully light bullet at 44gr but fragments on impact. Think I went the right route??

Check this site out. Lots of good info on .233 and 5.56mm.

Well it looks like my Silvertips won't cut it! I think tomorrow I will pick up a box or two od 68gr Black Hills Match, as I know those are stocked. I hate paying 22ish bucks a box, but it'd seem ideal in a defensive situation. These babies are for some chuckies now!

I don't think the Black Hills ammo is a good choice as I think it will over penetrate. My PD uses Hornady 55gr TAP for their M-4 entry rifles as it performs well in ballistic testing and dumps all of it's energy inside a body. I have also seen testing on Federal's 69gr Sierra MatchKing BTHP and it over penetrates. Here is a link to Federal Ammunition and it shows ballistic testing of their ammo. There is some interesting stuff here.
