Price comparison Lead, Lead coated, Lead Copper Plated

10% Off internet orders. Shipping is included in the prices.
$110.70 - 1,000 45 ACP LRN
Oregon Trail Bullet Company
2000 rounds=$221.40

I prefer not to use lead as I usually only go to an indoor range. But I like to get some for when I do go to an outdoor range. I tend to shoot a lot faster and send a lot more rounds down range when I go out doors. That gets expensive.

That's about the same price as Precision Bullets. Shipping is also included
$111.00 - 1,000 45 ACP 230 grain RNF
get 2,000 and the price drops to $106 per thousand.
2000 rounds = $212.00

Rainier LeadSafe
$269.99 - 2000 Bullets 230 grain RN
MidwayUSA.com box of 2000 FREE Freight and they are actually in stock
I bought a few thousand of these when I was in Boise and I picked up more on the drive home in Reno at Cabela's just to avoid the shipping costs. Taxes didn't come close, Midway usually shows these on back order.

I tried checking Barrys prices, but their shopping cart wasn't working with my browser.
Graf & Sons has a good deal on shipping
$287.95 for 2000 230 grain RN

I know this was covered in the past, but what other deals are out there as far as shipping costs. Times is gitin rough.

Riddle me this, why do the solid lead with a wax ring cost more than a lead bullet with a proprietary solid dry film lubricant? That's from their website.

TJCONEVERA.COM

If I remember right their prices include shipping. They have a good deal on Winchester .357" bullets.

I scored at Gander last week 2 boxes of Berry's plated .45 230 grn on sale for $50 a box of 500. Reg price was $80!!

We should have a sticky thread for reloading components prices like the ammo prices thread.

There are many sources for lead bullets. The cast bullets almost always have a lube ring. They can be more but usually less than a swaged bullet like the Speer or Hornady. Here are a couple fo good places for lead bullets. For jacketed, tough to beat Precision, cheap as or cheaper than Ranier or Berry's.

The only reason I could see for the waxed bullets costing more is that it takes more material wax lube 500 bullets than it does to tumble lube 500 bullets. The dry film lube goes on thin and a little goes a long way.

Thanks for the link Fred. I might place an order for some Gardners bullets. Have to wait till monday. One man operation and all.

Falaz, you are probably right. I didn't think about the extra work involved with the wax ring.

If you do switch over to lead, be sure and scrub every last bit of copper fouling out of your bore first. If you don't, your all but sure to lead up.
