Questions about Wolf Ammo

I was looking around here and didn't see too much on Wolf. Does anyone have any experience with Wolf or Brown Bear ammo? I found a site to get them for about $160/1000 rds. Any info would be greatly appeciated.

I've had no problems shooting wolf, 9mm, .40, .223, .308. When I don't feel like reloading for a weekend out at the range wolf or monarch is what I buy.

You'll have a mixed bag of reviews. some will say there is nothing wrong with it. My experience is that it jams anything I've put it through with exception of the AK that thing will eat as much wolf as you can feed it. If you do decide to get it remmber that unless you have special equipment you can't reload wolf ammo because of the steel casings. Wolf does make thier "gold" line of products that are in brass but they average in price about the same as any other brass cased ammo. Also most not all steel cased ammo is covered in laquer or another preservative that is will fowl up your gun and make for a deeper cleaning than usual. Best way to indicate a laqure coating is red around the primer.

You can get CCI Blazer for the same price (not including shipping). I'd rather not use it in my XD, although I wouldn't mind shooting it out of my AK.

wolf is steel jacketed, so make sure that it's ok with your range.
It's also intensely dirty. I would also avoid any wolf 9mm that is lacquered. I know that they do this to "seal" it away from moisture, but the lacquer melts in the heat of shooting and gets into all those hard to reach places.

Still, bang for the buck, it's really good.

I have no experience with brown bear.

True, I am not sure about the pistol calibers but I have some .223 right here and it is, so you can't shoot it at an indoor range. Good point PolsVoice

Yeah, that lacquer crap gummed up in my Beretta 96 and cased the casing to get stuck in the barrel really hard. Broke the extractor off. Was a cheap replacement, but I won't shoot it in any of my guns anymore. Don't need an extractor breaking if the SHTF.
