Just can't stop buying reloading stuff...

I'm beginning to think that it would be cheaper to just buy ammo until its $5 a round...

Last week I spent $650 on toolheads and dies and caliber conversion kits and other equipment for my Dillon RL550B reloader.. Which I bought a few months back for $425...

Just spent $998.62 at midway for reloading supplies...

Bought new brass for 9mm, .40, .45 and .223 (500 each)
Bought bullets for 9mm, .40, .45 and .223 (500 each)
Bought primers.. Small pistol, large pistol and small rifle (1,000 each)
and I bought 8lbs of Winchester WW231.

I chose the powder based on reccommendation I have gotten and from info Ive been able to source online. Seems like it is a great all around handgun powder. I have already picked up some powder for the .223, so no need there.

I was a little annoyed with Midway USA though... They wouldnt offer me a break on shipping or pricing with a pre shipping total of $945.00 Oh well.. I know better for next time.

Total initial investment to get into reloading... $2100+ and counting....

Really man, break that stuff down by caliber on a legal pad or such (and hide the receipts). Then contrast it to commercial in similar caliber, bullet type and use.. Amortize your equipment over 15 or 20 years. You really are saving a bundle!

$2100 and not 1 single round yet? You know you *could* have started with 1 and taken it from there, just to see if you actually like doing it. Still, take your time & read up - take it slow & steady at first & you'll have years of quality loads.

If you're shocked now, jus' wait till you see how much time it takes outta your life...

buying new brass will eat you up. Shop around and get some better deals, I reload lead for about $8/100 and that is buying local powder and primers. I could save if I would make a big order of powder and primers online.

I just spit soda all over my monitor here at work... Very embarrassing since we arent in cubes, but at desks around an open lobby (bank)

The funny thing is, I didn't include my one largest purchase of last week.. A Springfield TRP (used from a member here).

So, go ahead and just tack on an additional $1200 to that original total.

I feel like Im made of money right now... Good thing I should be getting a hefty bonus next month!!! It SHOULD cover all of my spending for this month and then some.

Yeah, I noticed. I figured that if I bought new brass, that it would be a sound investment if I am vigil about picking up my spent casings. And I dont have to worry about how many times they have been fired and so on. I have some mixed brass at home from various range trips, which I will probably experiment with, and then once I get it down... I will be able to make a whole lot with the same head stamp. I guess Im just anal... That and I wanted to have a nice reserve of brass for new loadings whenever I get the itch to sit down and pull that handle.

LOL... I think I need to close my wallet for a while... Then lock it up and forget the combination to the safe..

Im just thankful that I make a decent living and dont have many external expenses.. I pay for all my fun gun stuff with cash or debit card. Makes it easier in the long run.

You should buy primers / powder at local gun shows.

Prices are often better, and you don't have to pay for shipping or hazmat charges.

yup. I figured that out when I saw 20.99 at a local shop, then I went to one of the websites to purchase the same powder which was 12.99...thought I got a deal, until I got up to the SH, then it added the Hazmat charge and came up to something like 21.17..canceld the order and went out to get the local gun powder.

On the other hand, to OP: your one lucky sucker for getting that much reload kits! Im only running on the Lee's hand press with the manual load and all, but hey, Im pushing out pretty good amount of rounds for that little hand press. Im happy with it, been doing it for about 3 years now and Im happy with the results...and mines only cost me $120.00 total! mostly one dies.
