What brass do you guys use for rifle reloads? My reloading for rifles at this point would be for hunting and the terrain I hunt rarely allows for shots beyond 150 yards. I'm not worried about super accurate ammo. I would think collecting factory brass at the range would be fine, especially for a caliber like .30-30.

I also use mixed brass for my 30/30, .223 and .308 ammo only time I sort my .223 is for service rifle loads.

Mixed except for my .308 match stuff then I use Federal or Hornaday.

I like Winchester and lake city brass. I am not above range picking remington and others. I try to stay away from federal and anything with a crimp.

I stay away from Winchester (spelled that way on the base) due to primer pockets getting loose after a few times reloaded in .223, the same for Federal when loading hot loads. I like LC, Black Hills, and WCC brass as they have held up well, reloading them numerous times. Then there's Lapua for really reaching out but that's another story! Most anything will work when loading moderate loads, at shorter ranges. The .223 is an easy caliber to find an accurate load for.

In .308, I like Winchester and Lapua.

I have never heard of Winchester marked brass with loose primer pockets after a few loads in 223. Federal yes. I have about 2000 several times fired brass and no signs of bad primer pockets. 223 shouldn't really be loaded more than 4 or 5 times anyway.
