Bowling Pin Load .45 Rainier 200gr RN
I have a 5" XD/45 tactical and looking for a load about 900 fps. I would like to use Rainier 200 GR Round nose, my powders are:
Win 231 Titegroup Clays V 320 I have a dillon 550b and have Titegroup currently in the hopper so that would be my first choice. Neil in the Pacific NorthWET; however today is extra fine. |

We use a Bear Creek Moly 200gr SWC with 4.2 gr of TITEWAD, WLP, 1.230 OAL. We found the round nose ricochet off unless hit squarely, or spin the pin. The trick to get the front sight down quickly is to reduce the recoil spring to 15# with this load and shoot a 75% load. This is an old IPSC load, and a standard IPSC tuning tool. Do not use full power loads with a 15# spring. My buddy has shot a best of 4.17 with 5 pins, I have done a 4.22. Our problem is this FBI guy shows up with 5 minutes left and beats us with a 3.92.

BTW I have used my 10mm Glock 20 with 1200fps reloads for bowling pins. I average about 7 seconds, but it sure is fun seeing the pins blow off the stand. The lost time is the muzzle flip, and re-aligning the sights. It is worth the $5.
