ammo + summer heat
I had to leave my gun in the car for an hour or so the other day (think I was at the gym), and when I got back I noticed something strange. The copper jacket of my .38spl gold dots was now a purplish color from the heat. I'm assuming that this does not harm the bullets in any way, but I was wondering if anybody has any advice/input. Or if it does harm the bullets, let me know as well.

It might be worth asking Speer about it.

It doesn;t hurt the bullet, it's probably some moisture causing oxidation. Prolonged high heat exposure does play havoc w/ the powder coatings, so rotate your carry ammo at least every 6mos if you keep the gun in the car.

Ehh,
Arizona summer heat ... 160 in a car with the windows rolled up is common and I don't see our local LE worrying about it much. Rotate it out and replace it when you go to the range. IMO, you will be fine as long as you don't store it in the car for a few years.
