Another very accurate load I tried is 44.4gr H-Varget, Winchester Brass, Federal GMM large rifle primers, and 168gr HPBT Sierra Matchkings.

I did not load this ammo, and I did not have a chrono that day, but that 44.4gr of H-Varget seems very hot to me. In LC brass might want to start at 43gr. I have tried 42gr in LC brass, and though accurate, is a way underpowered.

Pics here of that range day with this powder in my M1A Mark14_ModCartmann:

Great and that sucks.
I guess I've got about 6 weeks to go.

1300 in 10mm = 313.79 suggested retail (after subtracting for shipping) back on a $421 purchase .... How can anyone complain.
Math says the press and dies cost me $108

I think it was about 8 weeks. I kinda forgot about it, so when the bullets came home I was pleasantly surprised

Do you have a chrono? Do you have a scale? Calipers? Those three tools are really needed to make accurate loads.

But also, what kinda bullet? what kinda casing are you using? What powder? primer? I have a starting point for H4895, H335, and HVarget for LC brass and the following bullets: 223 55gr FMJ, 223 69gr HPBT, 308 147gr FMJ, 308 168gr HPBT.

For plinking loads, I like 55gr FMJ in LC Brass, 24gr H335, with CCI 400 primer, 2" for 20 shot groups. It is slightly underpowered at 100FPS slower than M193, but again this is for plinking and no need to stress the gun for the sake of plinking. I have also found 23gr of H335 reliably cycles so you can make even less pressure if you want, but this low and accuracy will suffer.
Yes to the scale and calipers. No chrono. I have assembled some very good loads without one though. At least if you go by accuracy and reliability. I weigh every charge. clean primer pockets, clean the brass and occasionally trim the brass for uniformity. It's not fast, but I get excellent loads.

yeah i do the same on every case whether i am making plinking loads or accurate loads. i don't think a chrono is essential, but it is nice to have.
