Question Ammo for CHL Proficiency Test?

Hey guys, sorry for the noob question. I'm trying to decide which ammo to shoot this weekend at my CHL (CCW) class. So far, I've shot ~500 rounds through my xd .45 Compact, mostly WWB (target), some Winclean, and some BlazerBrass. But I have to admit that I am not an excellent enough shot to be able to determine if the ammo is affecting my accuracy. I'm not worried about failing the test at all, but I do want to do as well as possible. Basically, I don't want to leave, thinking I could have done better if I wasn't using cheap ammo.
So, I've read throught some ammo threads, but I can't seem to come to a consensus on what I should shoot. Some info on the class, it is an outdoor range in Austin, and we will be shooting at distances of 3 , 7, and 15 yards at silhouette targets.
Any recommendations on what to shoot for the test? Stick to what I've been shootig and not make any changes? Get some high-quality ammo?

I would just use Federal American Eagle. Federal has been around for ever, tried and True. Never let me down.
Good Luck today, You'll do Good.

Any factory ammo will do. The shooting test is easy. You are over-preparing. It's a pass or fail test anyway. The minimum passing score is equivalent to getting a perfect score. Most instructors take it personally if someone in their class fails. They will make every effort for you to pass. Re-shoots are not uncommon.

IMHO at those ranges its not going to matter one bit. I did my class with WWB and some Blazer. It's a piece of cake. My wife passed and she had never shot a semi before in her life. In fact I was amazed at just how bad she was. I think she was closing her eyes!

So I wouldn't let the ammo worry you at all. Use what you have been shooting and you shouldn't have any problems. Your biggest problem will be the insane wait for the licence. Good luck.

C-Bone,

Dont forget to RAISE your ARMS up to your sight picture hight, do NOT lower your head or TILT your neck to see the sights better, raise yor arms up to you eye's... Make sense? Hope so.

Here are some things that might help you out. You can print some of these and use them as guides to see how your doing...

Remember, TFOOTG Trigger Finger Out Of Trigger Guard until Ready to Shoot.

Good Luck today.

Thanks for the advice and shooting aides, I've been studying those over the last few weeks. I know that 3 and 7 yards is cake, no issues there. I didn't know if at 15 yards ammo comes into play.

It doesn't matter how well you shoot...as long as you pass. If you can get them all on the paper you will be fine. You'll get the cert whether you make on big hole or are all over the place, but still on target.

No, at 15 yards ammo does not come into play just to qualify. The place it does count is in Personal defense ammo. But at the range, just get it on paper or cardboard and you'll be good, like the above post say.

I agree, you are used to WWB so use it.
The instructor is going to do whatever it takes to pass anyone in the class.
Unless he feels someone really shouldn't pass.
The range test is pass or fail.
I took my 14 year old daughter to the range for the first time yesterday.
Even with her first time to shoot a firearm, she could have easily passed the CHL range test.
The only things I've seen upset an instructor during a range test is, turning on a laser sight (not allowed), making head shots (center mass only), and not listening to what he is instructing the group to do.
If you have already shot 500 rds thru your XD45, you could probably pass your range test with your eyes closed..
