I took my new .45 out sunday and put 50 rounds of 230 grain ball through it without a problem. I then shot about 75 rounds of 200 grain jead semi-wadcutters (H&G #6

and had four or five malfunctions of various types. I had been told that XD's don't like SWC bullets but that just happened to be all I had on hand at the time. Also, I found that cleaning all the bullet lube residue out was a real chore as XD's have more nooks and crannies than a 1911.
OK, so my favorute target bullet is out. I will reserve lead SWC bullets for my 1911 only. Is there any other type of ammo that I should avoid? Anything that has given you trouble in your XD? How about high end 230 grain SD hollowpoints like Federal Hydrashocks, Hornady XTP's or Speer Gold Dots?

Modern JHP/FMJ should work fine. Might run into some troubles with a few brands of JHP, though. I do believe some people are running round nose without much of a problem, but watch for leading.

Some have had some feed problems with Federal HST Tactical hollow points. I myself am one of them. However, with a simple feed ramp polish and new heavier (20% stronger) AGP magazine springs, ALL of my problems dissappeared.

Anything with a AMERC head stamp. Pure crap that can destroy your firearm.
