What type of ammo should I avoid?

I took my new 5" Tactical out for the first time Sunday. I put 50 rounds of 230 grain ball through it without a hitch. Then I fired about 75 rounds of 200 grain lead semi-wadcutters (HG#6 and had four or five malfunctions of various kinds. I knew beforehand that the XD does not handle SWC bullets well but that was all that I had on hand at the time. The wax bullet lube also proved more difficult to clean as the XD has more nooks and crannies than the 1911's do. OK, so my favorite target load is out. I will reserve lead SWC loads for my 1911 only.
My question is: Are there any other loads that I should avoid? Any that you have had problems with in your XD?

SWC is pretty much hit-miss. Most have to do some fine tuning (polishing feed ramp, etc) to get them to work consistently. As for factory loads, any 230gr FMJ you can find. Personal defense ammo, JHPs, is pretty much the same, but some (including me) have had trouble with the wide-mouthed versions of PD ammo, like HST. Others have no problem with them.

So for factory target ammo, the cheapest you can find. Even steel-cased Wolf ammo will work OK, but it's pretty dirty and I'm not sure I'd shoot it long-term because of the extra cleaning needed and the steel case.

As far as RN bullets go (factory or therwise), I've not had a single problem and have used MagTech, WWB, Blazer, my lead reloads, etc. Good luck and congrats!
