Aguila .22 super colibri questions...

i just ordered 100 rounds from J&G and wanted to know exactly how accurate the stuff was. And what range can i expect it to hit its intended target.

And how quiet is the stuff?

Never have shot it for groups but it's pretty accurate. Sounds pretty much like a pellet gun. At about 10 yards it bounced off a piece of plywood.

So if a guy were to try and rid some squirrels from his back yard (there really are a TON) would this be sufficient....within city limits is why the sound concern.

If you can kill a squirrel with a pellet gun you could also do it with this ammo. I've never shot squirrels. Probably a head shot will do it. I did shoot a small pug that got into our yard and trying to bite my mother-in-law, it just yelped and ran way.

We shoot the 'quiet' Aguila ammo every now and then...pretty accurate at close range and when fired out of a rifle its about as loud as a loud air rifle. With ear protection its really odd to fire it since you almost cant hear or feel the shot. Crazy ammo.

I shot a round of it out of a pistol with a 6" barrel at a beer can about 30' away and the tiny projectile went through the can and buried itself into the 1/2 thick fiberboard that was used as a backstop. It penetrated enough that I was able to dig it out from the other side of the backstop....was just starting to poke through. Very hard little bullet, hardly deformed at all.

I like Aguila...all of their rimfire ammo is fun to shoot..I especially like using the 'Super maximum' .22LR hyper velocity (1750fps). The only downside to Aguila is it all burns pretty dirty...

Thanks for the info. I plan on shooting it 10 yards max....probably less than that even.

Pistol or rifle? It may be a little louder out of a pistol than would be suitable for backyard use...at least for multiple shots...

i shot the colibri out of a marlin .22 and it sounded like a pellet gun, bounced off a 1 inch thick piece of wood at 10 ft and almost shot my eye out like in a christmas story. when i shoot it out of my ar-15 with the ciener kit it sounds like nothing at all, you just here the hammer drop, also it cycled the action on the marlin but wont cycle the ciener conversion kit.
