What pressure can the xd-45 service pistol take?
What is the pressure the xd-45 service pistol can take before any type of problem occures? Say from hand loads.

I think the OP means hand loads as in reloading. How much powder can the barrel take before it KABOOMs.

Not sure exactly, but I know it's pretty sturdy. Read an article in American Handgunner about +P+ handloads in the XD-45. He had replicated the performance of a 240gr. .45 Colt in .45 ACP. I'd say work carefully and keep an eye out for signs of excessive pressure.

oh crap he said hand loads not hand tools. lol i am retarded. well if you look at it there is still a very small portion that isnt supported in the chamber area but it can take more then a glock i would think. but its a tough question to answer because there are sooooo many variables. something that would work in one gun might blow up a gun just like it. just start low and load up and keep an eye out for excess pressures. personally i load on the low side. if i want something hot i buy a factory +p round or factory +p+ its just not worth the risk for me. and plus light loads are easier on the gun and brass Last edited by sourpatch45 : 06-11-2008 at 11:14 PM. |

I ran across this on the net ..... Don't count on it's accuracy because I did not take it from the SAMMI website. In fact I can't seem to find their website, but I've been there before.

ETA: The numbers are very close to what HOGDON lists for a std. max. pressure. They show a top of 20,100psi
