Thanks, then what is the difference between a colt 45 and a 45acp?
"Never mind I found it in the Wikipedia". Sounds like a commercial.

Since I'm loading my own and you guys have been loading yours or shooting the XD-45 4" what is the best load for this pistol? I'm talking bullet grains and powder loads for the bullet grain being used.

Why would you want to load hot rounds? The gain is not worth beating the hell out of your gun and shortening case life. If it's for penetration just use 230gr.FMJRN. If your trying to replicate Corbons use Barnes X-bullets. They are the only hollow points that will consistantly expand at .45acp velocities. A steady diet of +P ammo will prematuraly wear out any weapon unless you change recoil springs and add a buffer.

Red face

I think everyone is misunderstanding the thread. I will start reloading soon and I don't want to make mistake's that have allready been made and learned from by others on this site.

Oh? Well in that case it's safeest to go by the bullet makers or powder manufactures load manuals than use somebodys laod from the internet. It may seem easier to just use what worked for somebody else but reloads and data are like underwear; be carefull whos underwear you try on. If you don't have a manual I would suggest Speer, Lyman and Lee's hardcover book. It has a lot of good info on reloading. You can also go to most all of the powder manufactures web sites for load data using their powders. Always start on the lower range of suggested loads and work up watching for signs of over pressure. Every gun is different and the many variables in bullet design, cases, powder and primers. Relax, it's all that stuff that makes reloading fun and never boring.

There is no "best" load. What I do is make a practice round that duplicates my carry round in POA/POI & recoil. So if you carry a 230gr SpeerGD @ 875fps, you can load a lead, plated or jacketed bullet to the same vel. w/ several powders. It sounds like you need a reloading manual? I like the Speer #14 for handgun loaders. The recipes in it pretty much match what I get over my own chronograph. I like medium burn rate powders like Unique, WSF & Universal especially for new handloaders. Books are your friend, start reading then come back w/ more questions.
