Which one would be my best option?

I don't know what the difference is between the heavy ball yellow tip and the lead core light ball.

If anyone knows of a site with a better deal I would certainly appreciate it!

Buy some of both and find out which one the gun likes.

The heavy ball is around 175gr bullet and light ball around 145gr, more info on surplus here: 7.62x54r Ammunition Evaluations

IIRC the heavier bullet was meant for the Soviet Machine guns of WWII.

I agree buy both or "borrow" a couple rounds of each from someone that has some(if you know anyone) to see what the gun likes

I have a m44 that doesn't like to shoot anything but the heavy ball, and a 91/30 that loves light ball.
