Can .40S&W Stop A Vehicle?
Would a .40S&W round penetrate or damage an engine block enough to stop a moving vehicle coming at you?

You could shoot the radiator, or maybe pop off a belt if you were lucky, but highly doubtful you could actually stop a car.

You'd have a better chance throwing a spade at it.
Maybe if you hit the driver. But think about it. Do you think a 180 grain bullet would stop 4000 lbs?

Yes shoot the driver....the car may not stop where you want it but it will stop eventually.

(I did some rough calculations: in order to balance the momentum of a 4000 pound vehicle going 5 mph, a 180 gr .40S&W round would need to be travelling well in excess of 1 million feet per second.)

I have seen at least a half-dozen cars that had been shot with .40's, and not a single one of them was disabled by the gunfire.
