Using Magnum Primer....

I recently bought CCI primers and found out it was the magnum version. How would I adjust my powder measure to account for this? (CCI Magnum Primer 450 Small Rifle, H322, 55 grn FMJ). Hodgdon site does not mention primer brand. Thanks!

I have used the same primers to touch off accurate 2460 which is a ball powder. I used them as I was a bit concerned that the powder would not ignite consistantly in the cold weather. Although you would think that the mag primers would boost pressure and speed, I did not find this to be the case and my loads were perfectly acceptable.

Use them the same way you would the regular primers. Magnum primer basically provide a hotter ignition but have little effect on pressure.

I've tried both in my 7 mm Bench Rest pistol. The load was 26 grains of IMR3031 with the 154 grain Hornady bullet. The CCI450 primers increased the velocity by about 50 fps on average, from 1825 fps to 1875 fps. This is not a maximum load in my gun. If this was already a max load with standard primers, I expect that this would have started to show high pressure signs with the mag primers.
